processing, and concluding with marketing. Moreover, it entails the critical responsibility of land restoration and rehabilitation following the extraction process.
Mining Engineers are entrusted with the pivotal role of identifying natural reserves of minerals, petroleum, and other valuable resources. They are tasked with devising comprehensive plans and layouts, including the creation of shafts, inclines, or quarries, to ensure the safe extraction of these resources from beneath the Earth’s surface. These resources can comprise coal, petroleum, metallic and non-metallic minerals, among others. Throughout the planning and execution phases of resource extraction, mining engineers must also prioritize the health, safety, and welfare of workers.
Mining Engineers necessitate a broad knowledge base that extends beyond their core discipline. This encompasses fields such as geology, civil and mechanical engineering, metallurgy, commerce, economics, management, law, and information technology. Their diverse responsibilities encompass assessing the practicality of mining a particular ore deposit, designing effective ventilation systems for underground mines, overseeing the construction of conveyors in open pit sites, and conducting research into innovative extraction processes.

Mining Engineering program at our University is designed to prepare industry ready Engineers with critical thinking, problem solving and leadership skills to take up interdisciplinary industrial problems for the welfare of the society at large. Mining Engineering degrees are rooted in the real world of industry and the rapidly evolving needs of the engineering sector. Our well designed course curriculum supported with excellent lab infrastructure equips students with knowledge and skills across a wide range of mining engineering topics.
The function of the mining engineer is to apply knowledge of pertinent scientific theory, engineering fundamentals, and improved technology to recover natural resources. Mining is a world-wide activity involving the extraction of non-metallic, metal ores of all kinds, and solid fuel and energy sources such as coal and nuclear materials. In addition to mineral extraction, the skills of mining engineers are also needed in the construction industry; with its requirements of developing earth (rock) systems, tunnels and underground chambers, and the hazardous waste disposal industry are examples of such applications. The mining engineering graduate is qualified for positions in engineering, supervision, and research.
The dedicated team of faculty members are committed to developing the modern professional engineers for the future. We use modern teaching pedagogy including active learning; case study self-supervised learning to transform students into highly skilled engineers. This program provides a broad-ranging understanding of Mining Engineering principles and the confidence to apply this knowledge to real engineering problems.
