The societal challenges of our country can only be addressed by having a strong and vibrant higher education ecosystem with an emphasis on research, and innovation. Research and innovation activities strengthen technological developments, enhance job creation & employability, nurture entrepreneurship, and boost economic growth.
The University since its establishment has promoted a culture of innovation, problem-solving and multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary collaborative research to meet the changing needs of society, and has made steady growth in this direction. Highly qualified, dedicated and experienced faculty members, supported by the modern and state-of-the-art infrastructure facilities and specialized laboratories in each department facilitate quality research.
To foster research in the frontiers areas and to fulfil its vision and mission, the university offers Doctoral Programmes in various disciplines under the Schools of Engineering and Management. The PhD students, along with the faculty members, get the opportunity to work on sponsored research projects, collaborative research projects, and industrial consultancy projects and to present their research work at reputed national and international conferences with funding from various national and international funding agencies. University has established the Centre for Sustainable Energy Studies (CSES) and Central Instrumentation Facility (CIF) to facilitate the researchers and to have better and more effective collaboration among various departments towards achieving common goals.
University also offers funding to its faculty members and students for various research and innovation-based projects through the Seed Grant Scheme. To promote and encourage outcome-based research, the University has put in place a well-defined Research Outcomes Reward Policy.
For idea generation, incubation and promoting the entrepreneurship and startup culture amongst the students, the University has established an Incubation Centre that is recognized by the Ministry of MSME, Govt, of India and eligible to receive early-stage funding for nurturing the ideas/development/scaling up of prototype and seed capital for setting up the startups. To streamline and strengthen a vibrant ecosystem of innovation and start-up entrepreneurship at the University, an Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) has also been set up as per the norms of Innovation Cell, MoE, Govt. of India.
